Marseille Vs Atalanta

Olympique de Marseille is one of France’s oldest clubs — but its 120-plus-year history pales in comparison to that of the city itself, which dates back to Ancient Greece. I was blown away by Marseille. There is something that makes this club and city unique: its people.

All Marsellaise have a certain mania to them. It’s just a matter of waiting to see what particular type of madness grips them in football’s magical city. Marseille needs no introduction when it comes to football passion. So I needed to head up to Marseille for this European semi-final against the Italian side Atalanta from Bergamo. The stadium will be on fire!

Because If there is a team you can’t separate from its stadium atmosphere, it is Olympique de Marseille. The Stade Vélodrome is where you understand the synergies between the team and unconditional support. This club is simply different.

The game was about passion, pyro, and pastis. You realize how crazy is the atmosphere. Marseille takes me back to Argentina in terms of football passion in the stands. I simply couldn’t listen to Atlanta fans despite I saw them full support. The noise and support at the Vélodrome is simply crazy. The unconditional duty to express your passion. The mayhem of smoke, chaos, and sirens blaring down the street — this is the joy to be Marseillaise.

It’s safe to say that the football club has transformed the city and its inhabitants, as the hardest of hardcore fans are spread throughout the mythical metropolis. Because here Olympique is a lot of things to a lot of people.
